by Tony Maier-Moussa. The name means "the best" in old Greek. Now company is
known primarily for high-quality cycling clothing, but it started out making bicycles and
components. In 1978, the company made the first commercially produced Lycra cycling
shorts.

Sidi - cycling shoes and
motorcycle boots company in Coste, Italy, started in 1960 by Dino Signori. Sidi were the
first to introduce adjustable cleats in the 1970's. Sidi prescribes to a neutral support
phylosophy, and its shoes are made without built-in biomechanical corrections
("varus", "valgus", or metatarsal arch supports) and to allow some
flex in the soles.
Ultimate Direction - hydration and
load carrying systems for runners, adventure racers, and fastpackers. Led by ultra-athlete
and inventor of fastpacking, Bryce Thatcher, UD was acquired in 1999 by Sierra Designs (a
division of American Recreation Products). Headquartered in Rexburg, Idaho, UD maintains
its own brand identity, while Bryce Thatcher consults on the technical development of
Sierra Designs products.
La Bicicletta - is an
Italian-style pro shop chain in Canada. It owned by Giuseppe Cramerotti, whose family has
been involved in the industry in Italy for three generations. They carry a wide variety of
European road racing bikes and accessories, including the house brand, Cramerotti.

Colorado Altitude Training
- designed in Norway hypoxic room system. Room is sealed and stabilized to about 12
percent oxygen (depending on the altitude of your house) to simulate 15,000 feet. The
system consists of an oxygen concentrator and a CO2 filter.
MAF Group - original "Gamow
Bed" design by Dr. Igor Gamow of the University of Colorado, this partical vacuume
chamber used to be marketed as the CAT HATCH (Colorado Altitude Training's High Altitude
Training Chamber), and after a falling-out between CAT and Dr. Gamow, being sold as the

Wallace Altitude Tent Systems
- this hypoxic tent design by the former British Olympic track rider Shaun Wallace was
combined with Hypoxico, which offers an altitude tent as well as a hypoxic room with clear
walls. The system works on the same theory as CAT's room. The tent is clear and portable
and drapes over bed. Hypoxico claims the tent offers either 9,000-foot or 14,500-foot
altitudes. Hypoxico's Hypoxic Rooms start at 9x5x8 feet with soft clear vinyl walls and
aluminum frame, and are meant for training in, rather than sleeping in.
